Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair
Sixteen SJHS students attended the 69th Annual Pittsburgh Regional
Science and Engineering Fair. The SJHS Participants were:

The Gold Medal in the Medicine/Health/Microbiology Category-Senior Division
was awarded to Ariel Shroeder. This singles Ariel out as the best in her category
and division.
She received a Gold Medal, $300 and her tri-fold is currently on display
at the Carnegie Science Center. This is the first time a SJHS student received a
Gold Medal at PRSEF!
Honorable Mentions in the Physics Category-Senior Division were awarded to
Angelica Matta and Stephanie Shetler. They received a $25 cash award.
Sarah Straub and Lauren Brock were honored as Associate Scientists.
Richard Vaerewyck was honored as a Junior Scientist.
A Penn State Beaver $1000 Blue and White Scholarship was
awarded to Clare Barkowski.
A Robert Morris Scholarship valued at $3000/year was
awarded to Angelica Matta.
A Seton Hill University Science Fair Scholarship valued at $8000 was
awarded to Ariel Schroeder.
Chris Sparacino received a $50 cash award from the United States Navy.
Ariel Schroeder received a $50 cash award from the United States Army.
Richard Vaerewyck received an from the United States Air Force.
Alison Pavilonis won the Westinghouse Sponsor Award.
Alyssa Malobicky won the PPG Sponsor Award.
Ariel Schroeder won the Dusquesne University Sponsor Award and the
Allegheny County Medical Society Sponsor Award.
Sponsor Awards include a $50 cash award, a medal and a certificate.
