Inaugural Alumni Exhibition 5:30-8, January 8 @ the Sci Tech Center
Saint Joseph High School (SJHS) has an extraordinary alumni network that connects them to the current school community and inspires them to give back to SJHS in exceptional ways. It is one of the many benefits of the small class size and tight-knit community that SJHS provides. During a Saint Joe’s student’s experience in high school, there are many opportunities to interact with alumni; in turn, when they become alumni, they enjoy providing that same experience for future students. One can see these interactions in our alumni panels, college visits, socials, yearbook signings, and many other events. This coming year, SJHS will be starting a new tradition in which alumni will be coming back to share their college, career, and life experiences through an exhibition.
On January 8, 2020, over 35 alumni spanning across multiple decades will come together for the first SJHS Alumni Networking Exhibition. This event will be broken out into two main sessions and will help students, parents, prospective parents, and neighbors answer this question: “What is the Value of a Saint Joseph Education?” Current students will also have the opportunity to network and learn about over 30 colleges and universities and more than fifteen different career paths.
The first session of this event will be held during the school day. It will be set up in the form of a college fair so that students can network with SJHS alumni who attend or have attended colleges that spark the students’ interests. The students will be broken up by grade level to hear alumni panel discussions on topics relating to their grade, from the importance of involvement in high school clubs and activities to navigating their freshman year of college. During these times, they are encouraged to interact with the panelists. Local middle school students have been invited as well for a panel aimed at their age group.
The second section of this event is a career-oriented session that will be held in the evening. This is open to all SJHS parents and students, prospective students, and neighbors from the community. When navigating career paths, it is important to look beyond the college years. All participants will have the chance to visit tables based on career themes and talk to alumni who are in various stages of their professional careers. Once again, they will have the opportunity to ask questions based on their interests and will have time to attend panels based on careers that relate to their future goals.
All are welcome to attend the evening session that will run from 5:30 until 8 p.m. on January 8 in the Science and Technology Center. SJHS alumni are thrilled to play a part in forming and influencing a student’s future. For more information about this and future events, follow the Spartans at SaintJosephHS.com.
