Mr. Schiebel Retirement Mass Celebration

Join the SJHS community in celebrating Mr. Schiebel’s career in Catholic education.
Mr. Schiebel graduated with an Associate Degree from St. Fidelis College and Seminary in 1967 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Duquesne University in 1969. He continued his education with Graduate credits from Duquesne University, University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University. From 1969-1974, he was an elementary teacher and 7-8th grade Varsity Basketball coach at Blessed Sacrament School. In 1977, Mr. Schiebel started teaching at SJHS. He was an English teacher until 2017 and started teaching Latin in 1978 until today. He was the Varsity Baseball Coach from 1979-1983 and again from 1992-1995, and Physical Education teacher from 1979-2004. Mr. Schiebel implemented the College in High School course for 4th year Latin students in 2000. In his spare time over the past 30 years, he and his wife organized theatre trips to Toronto, New York City and Pittsburgh.
Mr. Schiebel has earned the following awards: Post-Gazette, All Star Achiever Inspiration Award 2003, Saint Vincent College Great Teacher Recognition 2014, and the Spirit of Saint Joseph Award 2016. His professional memberships include: Federation of Pittsburgh Diocesan Teachers, National Council of English Teachers, Western PA Council of English Teachers, Sigma Delta Chi Professional Journalism Fraternity, and Duquesne University Alumni Association.
